So what do we do now!
In case you missed it, the Supreme Court of Virginia, in a 4-3 decision, essentially threw out the results of the Special Election in which Virginia voters approved the new redistricting map. The decision was based on a technicallity that the Republican majority court chose to use to override the will of Virginia voters.

The Supreme Court of Virginia consists of seven justices elected by the General Assembly to 12-year terms. The ruling of the Court in the redistricting case aligns with the political split of justices who were elected under Republican-controlled legislatures and those elected during Democratic or split controlled lgislatures
Attorney General Jay Jones released a statement addressing the Virginia Supreme Court decision.
The next step: it is too early yet to know how the candidates campaigning based on the currently defunked new map are going to respond. We will continue to seek information and solutions that we will pass on to our voters as information becomes available.
National Popular Vote Success!
Fall 2025, the Greene County Democrats have invited Matt Butlar and Chris Pearson to speak about this movement to ensure that the Popular vote prevails in a presidential election.
Governor Spanberger signed the National Popular Vote bill into law on April 13, 2026 making Virginia the 19th jurisdiction to enact the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact into law.
